Tour Overview

Duration: 6 Days
Price: From $2,995 USD per person (mid-range lodging)

Known as the “Whiskey Route,” the Machame Route is the second most popular and one of the most scenic routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. Unlike the Marangu Route, all climbers sleep in tents, providing a more immersive wilderness experience. Meals are served in a dining tent or outdoors when weather permits.

The Machame Route is designed for physically fit hikers with some trekking experience. The route allows for better acclimatization over 6 days, which improves summit success rates. Descents follow the Mweka Trail, ending at Mweka Camp or Millennium Camp on the final night.

This trek can be taken as a private trip starting any day, or joined in a group on select dates. Combine your Kilimanjaro trek with one of our safari packages for a complete Tanzania adventure.
