7-Day Northern Tanzania Classic Safari – Serengeti & Ngorongoro

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your safari adventure begins in Arusha. After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel at around 7:45 AM and depart on a scenic two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park.

Renowned for its vast elephant herds and iconic ancient baobab trees, Tarangire offers an exceptional introduction to Tanzania’s wildlife. Enjoy extensive game drives in an open-roof safari vehicle, exploring seasonal swamps, rolling savannah, and the wildlife-rich Tarangire River. Expect sightings of elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas, lions, leopards, elands, warthogs, and a remarkable variety of birdlife.

A picnic lunch will be served at a scenic viewpoint inside the park, followed by further game viewing in the afternoon. In the evening, you will drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park, a compact yet incredibly diverse park situated at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.

The park is famous for its seasonal alkaline lake, which attracts thousands of flamingos and supports over 500 bird species. During your game drive, you may encounter monkeys, baboons, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, and—if fortunate—the park’s legendary tree-climbing lions. The scenery ranges from lush groundwater forest to open plains and dramatic cliff faces dotted with baobab trees.

After a full day of exploration, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Highlands to Serengeti National Park

Following breakfast, begin your journey to Serengeti National Park, traveling through the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands. The drive takes approximately 4–5 hours, offering rewarding wildlife sightings along the way.

Weather permitting, enjoy a short stop at the Ngorongoro Crater Viewpoint to admire the breathtaking caldera from above. After a picnic lunch en route, enter Serengeti National Park and enjoy an afternoon game drive across its vast, wildlife-filled plains.

As the sun sets, continue to your camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park

Spend a full day exploring the legendary Serengeti National Park, home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. From sunrise to sunset, enjoy extensive game drives in search of the Big Five and other iconic species, including cheetahs, wildebeests, giraffes, and hippos.

The Serengeti is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts, with more than 500 recorded bird species. After a rewarding day in the wild, return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, depart Serengeti and travel toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying game viewing along the way. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s most extraordinary wildlife destinations.

Covering approximately 260 square kilometers, the crater supports a dense population of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, flamingos, and the rare black rhinoceros. Spend 5–6 hours exploring this natural wonder before ascending the crater walls.

Later, drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Leisure Morning & Return to Arusha

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your lodge, taking time to reflect on the remarkable experiences of the past days. After checkout, depart for Arusha, arriving around midday.

You may choose to be dropped off at a hotel in Arusha or transferred directly to Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport for onward travel.
